Lawrence Beck 2008
March 8, 2008- April 12, 2008
Reception: March 8, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
536 W 22nd St
Lawrence Beck began photographing water lilies a decade ago. His new large-scale, color water lily series blurs the distinction between photography and painting and has as inspiration French Impressionist painting, specifically the work of Claude Monet. With the sky and clouds reflecting in the water around the lily pads, light and shadow emerge as important elements creating an illusionistic sense of space reminiscent of classical painting.
