STELLAN HOLM GALLERY proudly presents Inneres Licht gegen äussere Dunkelheit by Till Gerhard. Opening reception on Friday May 9 from 6 to 8pm.

Inneres Licht gegen äussere Dunkelheit (Inner Light contrast against outer darkness) is Gerhard's third solo show at Stellan Holm Gallery. The exhibition will feature all new paintings by the prodigious German painter. In this exhibition of new paintings and sculpture, light and light sources are the focus of the works. Bright colors are toned down and used more carefully, while the contrasting dark colors stand out more. Gerhard draws his inspiration from cultural references in film, music and literature, creating an uncanny world in his paintings. Iconic images trigger a sense of familiarity drawn from pop culture's collective memory.

Till Gerhard was born in Hamburg in 1971 and educated at Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften/FB Gestaltung, Hamburg and Muthesius Hochschule für Kunst und Gestaltung, Kiel. Till Gerhard lives and works in Hamburg.
