Mission Statement
The
Stephen Shames Foundation locates forgotten children
with innate talents and molds them into leaders.
We do this by raising funds for and partnering with
Concern for the Future, an indigenous Ugandan-run
leadership program.
Concern for the Future (CFTF) finds bright, motivated
AIDS orphans, child soldiers, children in refugee camps,
and other vulnerable youth in Uganda who want to go
to college but can’t because of poverty, AIDS, and war.
Concern for the Future’s student-members attend the
top primary and
secondary schools
in Uganda, then
go on to university.
CFTF’s staff, aided by
community partners,
imbue the children with
a strong work ethic, a
devotion to democratic
values, and a desire to
serve.
In a few years CFTF has transformed the lives of 75 youngsters:
• Half of our secondary students attend
Uganda’s 11 best schools.
• Of these 22 students, eleven
ranked 1st or 2nd in their class.
• 46% of our younger kids attend
the country’s top primary school.
