Art Reviews of Lutz Bacher 2008
New York Times March 28, 2008 | | Holland Cotter | | "...The two groups of photographs in her solo show at Taxter & Spengemann are based on found material. While rummaging through a thrift shop Ms. Bacher came across a stack of pictures taken in Vietnam in the 1960s by an American soldier named Walter. In a florid hand he inscribed the tourist-style snapshots with comments, presumably to his wife back home. Some are about the war in progress, but most concern this funny country he finds himself in. The observations are goofy, casual, out of it; they could be messages on postcards from summer camp...." |
