The Lifeworks – Part One: Bio-Geo
May 4, 2007- May 6, 2007
Reception: May 4, 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
7 W 25th St
On Friday, May 4th, THE COREY GALLERY will present "The Lifeworks – Part One: Bio-Geo." A collaboration of Corey's lifelong dream and Adrienne's own creativity collective, "The Lifework Studio" (www.thelifeworkstudio.com), "The Lifeworks—Part One: Bio-Geo" will celebrate Leban's first solo exhibition. Showcasing the most recent works (50+ pieces) in Leban's private oeuvre, the exhibition embodies what Leban calls her "bio-geo" vehicle for tapping the animating energy that constitutes life. Her new work is done entirely free-hand, without sketches or instruments, in India ink on wood, watercolor paper, or canvas. Part Two of the Bio-Geo series will show in October, 2007. In addition to the Corey Gallery exhibitions, several of Leban's 1980s paintings will be on view throughout May and June at the artful Chelsea eatery, Elmo.
Despite a plethora of offers to show at several high-profile galleries over the years, "The Lifeworks—Part One: Bio-Geo" will mark Leban's first solo exhibition. Timing and a shared understanding with Rosenberg to prevaricate from the formulaic "cookie cutter" path to success, Leban states "I'm not making products – my work is made to keep me alive and attuned and happy. But now I feel that I'm at an age where its time to spread the vibe." Both Leban and Rosenberg hope this and future COREY GALLERY exhibitions will benefit society through raising consciousness and will donate a portion of the proceeds to various charities including Doctors Without Borders and the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research.
