The Guild Art, NY presents gallery collection of the works of
Arunanshu Chowdhury and
Amitava Das.
Born in West Bengal, Arunanshu earned his Masters in Painting from M. S. U Baroda in 1995. Chowdhury comprehends the world around him by depicting everyday objects that one may encounter in one’s daily life. Pump sets, ants, flora, various kinds of musical instruments. Butterflies, spoons, knives, birds and chair form a repertoire of images that the artist has used extensively over a period of time. The present suite of works is more on the aesthetic beauty of our environment approaching a rather lyrical utopian sensitivity.
Amitava Das was born in New Delhi and graduated from the Delhi College of Art.
In this present suite of works of
Amitava Das, which are rather playful we are drawn in to ‘view’ the rhythms that the artist tattoos out on his canvas. In a systematic yet spontaneous way he collates his experiences in the form of lines that dance across the canvas. The rhythm varies with the colors and covers a wide palette. From strong colors like black and red to celebratory yellow and greens it is quite a departure from Amitava’s earlier works where the mood was much darker and palette more restrained.
