The Proposition Gallery also presents The Unnameable, a collaborative project in the Project Room by
Jason Gringler and
Martin Kuchar.“The Unnameable was roughly conceived by
Jason Gringler and
Martin Kuchar as an intellectual diversion from our personal projects, which often consist of non-representational imagery devoid of any obvious narrative. By diverging from rigid abstract employments we found an area of mutual entertainment within the absurd and its constituents, namely the bizarre, the offensive and sometimes the iconoclastic. We experiment with varied themes ranging within popular culture such as sex, mortality, casual drug use, violence and futuristic phantasms involving robots, machines and anarchistic transgression. With these subjects the Unnameable repeatedly press against the boundaries of good taste using a cut and paste approach to image making equivalent to a visual anti-orgasm.”
