Jin Meyerson
Tower (2005)
Zach Feuer Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings in the main gallery by Jin Meyerson.

Meyerson speaks of his paintings as "frantic moments". His saturated palettes, shifting surfaces and swirling compositions lead to paintings that create an almost schizophrenic viewing experience. Meyerson works without a pre-determined plan and uses a packrat-like collection of images culled from every imaginable source, mixing popular media with personal images. The end results reflect wide-ranging subjects, from towers of destructions over flood plains to fish-eye views of street explosions.

His work openly and explicitly engages spectacular imagery that adjusts its position from pop warfare, referencing the underside of the world view that fetishizes chrome, corn fuel, and war machines. His work is about the psychological spectacle, a point of view that priveleges events over objects. Based on collages, the colorful distortions smooth the seams between images of historical horror and the banal.

Jin Meyerson born in South Korea and grew up in rural Minnesota, adopted into a Jewish/Swedish family. This will be his second exhibition at Zach Feuer Gallery. Other exhibitions include Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, Paris and The Saatchi Gallery, London (upcoming). He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
