New Photography is an annual series of exhibitions devoted to significant recent work in the medium of photography. Since 1985, over 50 artists from 15 countries have been featured in this forum. Although New Photography is designed to focus on individual achievements rather than survey current movements or trends, the diversity of artists included suggests the scope and vitality of contemporary photography. Organized by Roxana Marcoci, Associate Curator, Department of Photography, The Museum of Modern Art. The New Photography series is made possible by JGS, Inc.

"...On the opposite wall, Ms. Probst has four pictures, each of the same woman at the same instant, but in four different contexts: in a monochrome garden, next to the Empire State Building, in miniature on a page, and under a threatening blue eye. The young woman's posture, with her hands behind her neck, her elbows protectively forward, and her face looking apprehensively up at the looming eye, confirms the "Alice in Wonderland" verve suggested by the sequence of backdrops..."
