..... when asked, Daniel replied "In my work, I aspire to blend old-fashioned artistic integrity with modern morality. One glance of my portfolio, anyone can see intellectual and moral challenges in an intimate, dreamlike way. Many have described my pieces as surrealism, whereas I consider my paintings to be, what I call cognitivism. The difference being that the majority of my images are based on a cognitive idea and are presented in an ethereal manner. I, also, try to focus on the duality we encounter in everyday life. Most of my work contains images of a contradictory manner only to be deciphered by the viewer. The ultimate goal is to express my inner most thoughts, whether it be a social commentary or an abstract emotion, but only to have the title of the work for the observer to interpret the piece. I do not wish to guide on lookers towards a definitive explanation, I only hope their interpretation is as personal to them as it is to myself." |
