For years I have been using the hillsides as a source for my artwork, mainly painting with oil colours on linen using the old techniques; transparent colors in many layers.
In my most recent works I have been examining the effects of atmosphere and light on the hillsides that I worked with earlier. I have explored the forms that suddenly appear, as the hillside becomes shrouded in fog; the details blur and all of a sudden gullies and ridges are drawn in sharp relief where the hillside had seemed to be almost a two-dimensional plane.
I have been using the video as a mean to those explorations, indeed depicting the video work as a painting. |
