Gudni Gunnarsson

Born in Reykjavik Iceland 1973, a visual artist living and working in Reykjavik and Brussels. Finished a BA degree in The Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2000 and was the same year one the founders and co-producers of the Yellow House. During the years 2000 and 2001 various events were held in the house visual, musical as well as performance/dance. Moved to Spain in 2001 and studied Spanish and cinema in the CECC Academy in Barcelona. Participated in various events in Barcelona e.g. The Pink Champagne Session in Gallery Seneca, directing and producing short movies e.g. "The murder on the way to Pep Ventura" in cooperation with Icelandic visual artist Andri Páll Pálsson and which was premiered in Gallery Hlemmur in September 2004. Co-founded Poni Collective in 2003 and works simultaneously with Poni as a writer, artistic director and performer. Has performed and exhibited with Poni in various spaces such as Kiasma in Helsinki, Kaaitheater in Brussels, Int. Performance Festival Gwanju South Korea and Centre de George Pompidou, Paris. The two latter also being co-producers of Poni project 2 Soma-Sema. Gudni was shortlisted for The Celeste Art Prize in 2006 and awarded a grant from The Margret Bjorgulfsdottir memorial fund.
