Neumann's wildly colorful, exuberant wet-into-wet watercolors follow in the tradition of Van Gogh, the Fauves and German Expressionists. Emotionally charged, her paintings have been described as "vibrating with energy and joy".
With exhibitions in Wisconsin, California and New York City, Neumann sees art as an agent of social change, and donates 10% of sales proceeds non-profits.
Born in Charlevoix, Michigan, she is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing feminist psychotherapy since 1984 in Madison, Wisconsin. She founded Women's Psychotherapy Centre of Wisconsin in 1988, http://wpcw.com. Art making sustains this artist in her professional life as a clinician working with trauma survivors. Daily she is moved by the courage she witnesses with her clients, and through her art, she seeks to express that inspiration. |
