"Salvatore Meo was my uncle. My mother was the oldest of 11 children. Sal was child #8, and 4 years older that me. We grew up together and were very close untill the 2nd World War when he enlisted in the Navy in 1942, and I got married in 43. In 1944 we moved to California. We tried to stay in touch throughout the years, but due to the different life styles we both were living we grew apart
From 1956 to 1960 I was living in Verona with my husband and children. My my husband was a Major in the Army stationed in Verona Italy,
I contacted my uncle Salvatore who was living in Rome, and was able to make arrangements go to Rome and spend a week with him. That was the last time we were together.
It was wonderful. We talked and talked about family, our dreams and the future. When we were younger we shared so much together. He had a great influence on me growing up.
Seeing him again was like we had never been apart.
He was a dear sweet man who was living for his work."
