During his time (1997-2000) with SWIPE (described as a "bad copy" of a pop band), Tony Cokes developed a series of short essays about pop music which ultimately led to a series of videotapes collectively titled Pop Manifestos: AD Vice (1999), 2@ (2000), 3# (2001), 6^ (2001), and 5% (2001).
